What is Mudman?
MUDMAN is a hardcore 3.2 mile obstacle course designed by seasoned endurance athletes, personal trainers, and all around fitness nuts that will test your all-around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.  The muscle behind MUDMAN is what makes this event special. In 2004, North Crest Kids Activity Center started the Graniteman Triathlon as a fundraiser to support its kids programming.  Since then, the Graniteman Endurance Series has grown into 5 premier events including 3 triathlons, one half marathon, and MUDMAN as well as three premier kid’s athletic events that coincide with them.
All of our events support the kids programming at North Crest and our sponsorships go to the Clubhouse Kids Fitness Family Foundation, which is dedicated to and engaged in the fight against childhood obesity in Central Minnesota.  But MUDMAN is more than an event; it’s a way of thinking. By running a MUDMAN challenge, you’ll unlock a true sense of accomplishment, have a great time, and discover camaraderie with your fellow participant.

Age Limits & Requirements
Are there age limits or requirements?MUDMAN Jr: (1 mile): Ages 6-12
MUDMAN (5k): Ages 13 & Up
MUDMAN TEAM (5k): 2 Racers Ages 13 & Up
Parent/Kid Division (5k): 1 Parent + 1 Child ages 10-15

NOTE:  For safety reasons, only children will be allowed on the 1 mile, MUDMAN Jr course.  The course is designed so that parents will be able to see their child(ren) through the full course and we will have trained medical staff and course volunteers watching your children closely.  Also, the obstacles will not involve deep water or high climbing to insure their safety.  But yes, they will be quite muddy and tired when they cross the finish!

Can Kids Race?
MUDMAN is not only limited to adult fun! Bring the kids so they can join in on for their very own MUDMAN Jr. race.  They will enjoy the thrill of a one-mile run, a variety of obstacles, and a chance to get really muddy while their parents cheer them on from the sidelines!
Our mission is to inspire children to develop a love for fitness at an early age.  Children ages 6-12 may register to do the MUDMAN Jr. The course is about a mile and will use some of the same obstacles that the adults use, but not all.  Each child will receive a t-shirt and finisher's medal.  MUDMAN Jr. is brought to you by Clubhouse Kids Fitness, which is a leader in the movement to help children learn life-long health and fitness habits in Central MN.

Children ages 10-15 may choose to participate in the MUDMAN 5k Race as a team with a parent.
Course & Obstacles
Where can I find a Course Map? The course map will be finalized and posted soon.  Stay tuned!

This is not just another 5k Run!
Running on the road may give you a healthy set of lungs, but will leave you with as much upper body strength as a ballerina. At MUDMAN, we test your all-around grit and strength, not just your ability to run in a straight line, on your own, for hours on end, getting bored out of your mind. Our obstacle course is designed to challenge you in every way possible, not just to see how fast you can move forward.

How hard is it? How far is it?
Well, the level of difficulty of the race will be determined by the speed and intensity with which you choose to compete. The most important asset you can have on race day is a good strong showing of mental fortitude and toughness.
MUDMAN (individual, team, group, and parent/child division) is 3.1 miles.
MUDMAN Jr. course is 1 mile.

What Obstacles will be at MUDMAN?
You will encounter 10-15 obstacles during your MUDMAN adventure that will range from mud pits, wall assisted rope climb, cargo nets, hurricane speed water cannons, tire mountain, tire carrying/rolling, hay bales, more mud, leaping fire pits, Gladiators, more mud, and oh yeah, hills like you have never had to deal with before! Don’t worry; you’ll survive... Maybe?
Groups & Teams, How do they work?
What is a Team?
Teams are made up of two (2) people and can be men, women, or a combination of the two. You can even register as a Parent/Kid team and race with one of your toughest offspring.  Teams will race along with all of the other participants in heats that have both individuals and teams. That way, you can race as a team and still race with your favorite group of people! The team race is NOT a relay! Both teammates, including the adult and parent/child divisions, will do the entire race and must cross the finish line together!

A  Group of Friends?

Groups of friends can include both team entries and individuals that all want to race in the same heat at the same time.  There is no limit to how many you can have in a group, so bring the whole office, neighborhood, sports team, or family.  You can’t pick when you will race, but you will be able to pick who you race with if you choose.

How Do I Form A Group?
First, come up with a “Group Name” and make sure that all of the friends in your group know it.  During the registration process, you will be asked if you are racing with a group of people.  Pick Yes, and then put in the Group Name that you and your friends have chosen!
Questions About Registration
I registered, How can I confirm my registration? Click here!

Can I switch my individual registration to a team and how? Yes, but not without some inconveniences. If you need to have that done, please send us an email here. You will also need to double check your entry when you pick up your race bag to make sure that the change was made prior to race start.

Can I transfer my registration to someone else if I can‘t make it?
Unfortunately not.
If you can’t make it and you would like someone to pick up your race bag and t-shirt on race day, please do. We are not able to ship bags or shirts. Finisher medals will only be given to Mudmen and Mudwomen who cross the finish line.

Entry deadline and registration close? Registration ends on August 10th, 2012 at midnight or when the race fills.

I can't race, do you offer refunds? Unfortunately we are not able to issue refunds or offer entry transfers under any circumstances. If you can’t make it and you would like someone to pick up your race bag and t-shirt on race day, please do.  We are not able to ship bags or shirts.  Finisher medals will only be given to Mudmen and Mudwomen who cross the finish line.
What do I get with my entry?
What do I get with my race entry fee?
Everyone gets a shirt, some free stuff in your race bag, and a chance to win some really cool race swag during our door prize drawings. Only MUDMAN finishers will receive a finisher medal and the pride that comes with knowing you conquered the MUDMAN!
Why Race MUDMAN?
What makes MUDMAN Different? MUDMAN has been developed by seasoned hard-core fitness experts that have been eating, breathing, and sleeping these types of events for 15 years.  MUDMAN is also one of the few Mud events out there that is truly family friendly, so bring the kids and come have some fun!

Seriously… Lighten up and have some fun! Triathlons, marathons, and other flat-road runs can often be more stressful than just plain fun. Not MUDMAN. As hardcore as our course is, we meet you at the finish line with a laugh, a cool finisher’s medal, post race refreshments, and a rockin’ live band. It’s pretty hard to take yourself seriously when you’re wearing a crazy costume, are covered in mud and have just finished being throttled in the chest by a MUDMAN Gladiator, so don’t show up at a MUDMAN without a sense of humor.

Race alone or with my friends? You can complete the MUDMAN course alone, but there is strength in numbers. To get through mud, fire, water, over walls, up ropes, and other various forms of torture, you may need a group of friends to pick you up when your spirits dip and your muscles alone aren’t tough enough. Our obstacles are designed to be challenging to the toughest or to be done with a partner or in a group if you prefer. The toughest obstacles will have the option to be skipped, but be ready to pay a penalty for doing so that will not prove to be the easy way out. We hope you like burpees and pushups!
When will I Race?
Mudman participants will be sorted into heats by registration times and group names. All racers within the same "group" will be placed in the same heat. Participants will be notified via email when the official heat assignments have been 2 weeks prior to the event and they will also be posted online.

The Mudman JR heat will be held at noon on Saturday. When the first Mudman JR heat fills, we will open a second heat.
